Geotechnical Associates
  • Responsible for the management of all geotechnical design aspects of the scheme
  • Monitor and coordinate all geotechnical design work at each stage of design development and ensure that these are undertaken by the Design Development Consultants in accordance with their scope of services, project brief and programme
  • Review GI adequacy, data collection, FEM models and selection of geotechnical design parameters
  • Conduct critical reviews of all geotechnical design submissions for completeness, accuracy clarity, adherence to approved design criteria, programming requirements, constructability, safe to build, quality, value engineering opportunities, schedule impacts and compliance
  • Identify the nature and extent of major geotechnical issues, impacts and changes to the scope and programme at the earliest opportunity
  • Attend meetings, workshops and presentations to client as required and actively participate
  • Advise client the geotechnical design development achieved at the end of the stages of design development
  • Arrange and co-chair geotechnical development achieved at the end of the stages of design development
  • Arrange and co-chair geotechnical reviews or other meetings as required
  • Ensure the overall quality of the geotechnical design development process and as required, the quality of the deliverables provided by the team to client
  • Attend where required geotechnical and tunneling work interface, stakeholder liaison and coordination meetings and prepare minutes of meetings
  • Review of geotechnical and tunneling work interface or AC Reports submitted by external consultants or contractors and assess impact to client. Make recommendations to Client on the necessary course of action to be taken
  • Carry out technical assessment of geotechnical and tunneling design submissions by others which has impact on the existing civil infrastructure
  • Review geotechnical, ERSS and tunneling works risk assessments and interfacing drawings
  • Review any geotechnical impacts to the overall tunnel programme
  • Review Authority submissions and advise of delays, impacts, waivers and other issues
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of presentations to the Client documentation important decisions relating to geotechnical matters
  • Prepare or assist in the submission of monthly progress report documenting project status and critical geotechnical issues
  • Provide overview of cost estimates for geotechnical works submitted by the Quantity Surveyor
  • Ensure that all Geotechnical BIM (Leapfrog) models are validated and fit for purpose
  • Continue these above project support functions if required, through to Construction Stage and advise, review, supervise, monitor and report on major geotechnical works on site
  • Coordinate design documentation, records, as built drawings and models and all other documents required to be delivered by the consultants are received, satisfactory, archived and logged.
  • Degree in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
    Competent in Plaxis 2D and 3D, Eurocodes and familiar with LTA and BCA standards
  • 10 years relevant geotechnical design experience in deep excavations, tunneling and project management gained within a technical consultancy
  • Experience in pile design, temporary works (ERSS), ground models, groundwater control, instrumentation and monitoring, and construction supervision
  • Experience in working collaboratively in seamless teams to build concensus and confident and willing to interface with other disciplines leads
  • Proven track record in large scale geotechnical and underground engineering design and construction projects and able to clearly communicate designs to other professions
